Planning your Visit to the Stones River National Battlefield

The main entrance to the Stones River National Battlefield is located at 1563 North Thompson Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37129:

Hours:

Park: Sunrise to Sunset

Tour Road, McFadden Farm & Redoubt Brannan: 8AM to 5PM

Visitor Center: 9AM to 5PM

Fortress Rosecrans: Sunrise to Sunset

Visitors may park at Tour Stop #5 or the visitor center parking lot when accessing the park between 5 PM and sunset.  Bicyclists and pedestrians may also enter park areas using the Stones River Greenway.

Thanksgiving & Christmas

Getting Around:

Allow about two hours to see the museum and take the self-guiding tour of the battlefield. If you wish to visit other sites such as Fortress Rosecrans, allow more time.

Cost:

The Stones River National Battlefield is ‘fee free’ park!

Climate:

Summer is hot and humid with highs in the 90s.  Spring and fall are pleasant.  Winter temperatures are variable, but temperatures may drop below freezing with occasional snow.

Bicycle and Battlefield Hikes:

Looking for a way to get a little exercise while enjoying the park’s combination of nature and history? Join us every Saturday from April through October as park rangers and volunteers lead visitors on a two-hour hike or bike ride through the battlefield.

Pets:

Pets are welcome at at Stones River National Battlefield as long as they are on a leash and under physical control.  We also ask that pet owners clean up after their animals.

Pet owners may not tie their animals to trees, monuments and other park structures.  Pets are also not permitted in the visitor center unless they are providing assistance to a visitor with a disability.
